The Holy Bible Society (HBS) is an international Christian organization founded in 2007 for the purpose of making the Bible more accessible to all people by using digital technology and the Internet.
We are committed to distributing the Bible and resources electronically to new generations, as well as to people in regions where the Bible is not available. Please visit the MISSION & VISION section of this website for more information here: http://www.holybiblesociety.org/aboutus/mission.htm.
A recent survey by the Center for Bible Engagement (CBE) provides important insights into the characteristics of Bible readers that underscore the importance of these efforts. According to the CBE, people who listen to or read the Bible at least four times a week are 231 percent more likely to disciple others in the faith and 228 percent more likely to share their faith. On the other hand, they are less likely to engage in extramarital sex (by 68 percent); view pornography (by 61 percent); and gamble (by 74 percent).
These findings show that accessibility, as well as engagement with and application of the Word of God, is foundational to our faith and the transformation of lives, communities and nations. By sharing the Word of God in formats that people can readily engage with, the Holy Bible Society seeks to transform people’s hearts and the world into one where “filled with the knowledge of the LORD as the waters cover the sea” (Isaiah 11:9).
The Holy Bible Society seeks to carry out our task in partnership with other organizations and institutions whose aim is to spread the Gospel of Jesus Christ. We actively look for and seize up opportunities to carry out our mission of engaging people everywhere with God’s Word, especially in collaboration with Christian publishers, mission groups, and educational institutions, we hope to help expand the reach of God’s Word to people throughout the world.
Today Holy Bible Society is launching and preparing to launch projects especially focusing on social media purposed to increase public engagement with the Bible and Christian resources. These include:
